Warp Words Coming soon

This week’s spellings, as space missions.

A spelling game for you and your child to use together. Add the spelling list your child brings home from school, and Warp Words turns it into missions on the iPad, with a picture and a sentence for every word. Your child writes each word by hand with you alongside, and the day before the test you mark a practice test together.

Coming soon
The Warp Words home screen on an iPad. It shows this week's mission, Tumblestar, with ten words and the medals earned so far, and buttons for boss practice, bosses, the star map and the hangar.
The parent's This week screen on an iPhone, showing the week's planet, medals and the words that need practice.

How a week works

  1. The parent's review screen on an iPhone. A card for the word table shows its sentence, with a button that sends the cards to the child's iPad.

The day the spelling list comes home

    Add this week’s spelling list

Photograph the list from school, or type the words in. Warp Words makes a picture and a sentence for every word. Each picture passes a safety check, and you look through the cards before they go to your child’s iPad.

  2. A Warp Words question on an iPad. A bottle is shown, and the child has written the word bottle by hand.

    Each day until the test

    Practise the words together

Your child hears each word and writes it by hand on the iPad, with you there to help with the hard ones. A word earns bronze, then silver, then gold for being right on three different days, and you can see their handwriting and medals on your iPhone.

  3. Boss practice on an iPad. Ten handwritten words are listed next to their correct spellings, and each one is marked right or not yet. The boss's health bar has gone down by five.

    The day before the test

    Boss practice

Your child writes all ten words as a practice test. Then you mark them together, and every right word knocks the week’s boss back.

Boss practice: a spelling test you mark together.

The day before the test, your child writes all ten words on the iPad. Then you sit together and mark each one: right, or not yet. Every right word knocks the boss back, and seven right beats it. The words marked not yet are the ones to go over together before the real test.

Each week’s spelling list gets its own boss, designed by AI from the words on the list.

The Bubble Beetle

7 right words beat the boss.

  • tabletable
  • appleapple
  • bottlebottle
  • ankelankle
  • candlecandle
  • eagleeagle
  • littlelittle
  • middlemiddle
  • puzzlepuzzle
  • tickeltickle

Beaten bosses join their collection.

  • The Night Owl Robot

“Spell my igh words to beat me.”

  • The Rain Snail

“Spell my ai words right to beat me.”

  • The Star Saucer

“Spell my words to stop my saucer.”

  • The Spelling Boss

“Spell my words right to beat me.”

How it helps with spelling

Warp Words is a tool for the practice you already do with your child, not a replacement for it. It turns the week’s list into something they want to practise, and shows you where they need help.

Spelling practice that feels like a game
The week’s words become missions, with medals to win, planets to collect and a boss to beat before the test.
They write every word by hand
Your child hears each word read aloud and writes it on the iPad, the way they will in the real spelling test.
Practice spread across the week
A word earns bronze, then silver, then gold for being right on three different days, so the words are practised all week rather than the night before.
Every word has a picture and a sentence
Each word comes with its own picture and a sentence that uses it, so your child learns what the word means as well as how to spell it.
You see which words need work
Words your child finds hard are marked as needing practice, and you can look through their handwriting for every attempt.
Any spelling list, however it arrives
Photograph the sheet from school, type the words, or paste them from a message or email.

Private by design: no adverts, no accounts, and nothing about your child is sent to us. Read the privacy policy.

The spelling test is on Monday. Try a boss practice on Sunday.

Coming soon to iPad.

The game is for iPad, with an app for the parent on iPhone.
